The star has donated the entirety of his £25,000 honor prize money to the MVT, which operates to protect the Britain's small music venues.

He was presented with the prize on 16 October as his third album his work was named the best record of the previous year.

He has chosen to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the crucial part small stages had in his early career.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These locations are renowned, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Recently, well-known musicians including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

Sam Fender also took part, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to assist 38 small stages across Britain.

The donation helped locations that were facing potential shutdown due to challenges stemming from floods, blazes and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues obtained financial assistance in modernizing amenities and technical equipment that helped performers and concertgoers.

"The idea that funds from shows in large arenas helps the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

The musician is among several artists to give his honor funds to worthy causes.

When they received the award in 1996 for their release Different Class, lead singer Cocker stated that the act would give their cash to the organization the charity.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her prize among several charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a £1,000 to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they required updated gear," the artist shared with a publication.

In recent years, the band donated their winnings to the community center that nurtured their group, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year they gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the disease.

"Winning was sufficient," stated singer Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning affected another person's life."

Recently, the MVT announced it had rescued two local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and the other in Bristol were acquired under the Own Our Venues program, which is supported by Arts Council England and supporters who buy "shares" in the properties.
