Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
